The area of Impruneta, its thousandyear history, old farming traditions, typical products, love for the land, sacred art and the manufacturing of terracotta. There’s all this and more in the Ecomuseo Terre d‘Impruneta. A sort of unique route where those who visit the area can identify a combination of interconnected places and traditions. The routes allow a general glance at one of the most admired areas of Tuscany and a specific selection by theme. The information point of the Ecomuseois at the heart of everything. Here you find areas dedicated to information, permanent and temporary exhibition rooms, meeting rooms, a library and archives. The general theme of Terre d‘Impruneta is split into three branches. The “Land of nature and history” is the first one. Here you can find out about the transformations that have taken place in the environment thanks to the work of man, with special attention paid to the oil and wine scene. The “Land of Terracotta”, with its heritage associated with the business of the furnaces, collections of the products, and the history of the relations of the furnaceowners with the city of Florence is part of the second theme. Finally, the “Land of the Sacred” is the name given to the itinerary that concerns the history of the Basilica di Santa Maria all‘Impruneta, the routes of the pilgrimages, the veneration for the image of the Madonna kept in the Basilica.
