The Chianti Cycling Park

A true form of ‘slow’ tourism, which separates one for a few days, or even for a few hours from the frenzy, lack of time, traffic and city noise of daily life, taking one to discover a far more relaxed and almost forgotten feeling. In the Senese it is possible to rediscover a way of life, one which puts you in touch with nature and which is good for the spirit: all it takes is a bicycle. Here are at least 400 kilometres of asphalted roads, never engulfed by cars, even less by lorries, and innumerable tracks for mountain bikes which pass from woods to grassy hills. There are also the typical “white roads”, delightful ‘jewels’ to be protected which form part of Tuscany’s dna such as hills, rows of cypress and monuments. The ‘white roads’ are characteristic tracks formed from light-coloured gravel which have been around for many years and are very well maintained. To fully enjoy a holiday on two wheels, the Chianti cycling Park in Gaiole has been created, which also includes the municipalities of Radda, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Castellina and Greve. The Park was created not just as a ‘reserve’ to protect cyclists, but to enhance this part of Chianti which is rich in scenery and very little traffic. In this way, on the seat of a bicycle, the tourist can pedal along in all tranquillity and enjoy a steep climb, easy descents, a church, a castle or a wine ‘cellar’.
